For the past couple of months, MyLeague.com has been analyzing the issue of Room Rights. This issue often comes up in these forums and in support mails, and we've been trying to figure out the best way to improve them for everyone. Recently, there was a poll in the Feedback and Suggestions forum, asking for your feedback on this issue. In that thread, I stated that our goal for room rights was to find a solution that kept three things in mind:

* The room rights rules should be simple, and easy to understand for new Admins, to prevent misunderstandings with new Leagues.
* The room rights rules should be fair for all Leagues.
* If there is a situation where a rule contradicts common sense, then common sense should prevail.

Based on the feedback from that thread, as well as other feedback that we've collected over time, we have come up with a solution that we think satisfies those three goals, and will greatly improve the room rights process for all Leagues. As such, we are implementing the following rules for room rights. A new version of the League Dispute Guide that reflects these changes has been uploaded, and the appropriate information has been added to the MyLeague Room Listing site as well.

These new rules are effective immediately, with the exception of the rule about how to maintain room rights. That rule will not take effect until August 1st, so that Leagues have plenty of time to prepare for how that change will affect their existing room rights.

All of us at MyLeague.com would like to thank everyone for the amazing feedback that you gave us regarding this issue. We hope that these new rules will help improve things for everyone. Smile

Updated Room Rights Rules

* To establish usage rights to a room, you must either:
1) Host openly in the room at least once a day for at least 7 out of 14 days.
2) Host openly in the room at least once a week for 4 consecutive weeks.
* To maintain usage rights to a room after establishing them, you must host in that room at least once a week.
* If a room is being used for at least 8 hours a day, any League with usage rights to that room can file an Admin Complaint to stop a new League from establishing room rights. If the room is not being used for a combined total of at least 8 hours a day, MyLeague.com will not remove either League from the room.
* Although it is not required to contact the other Leagues in a room before hosting there, it is strongly encouraged, as it is important to maintain open and friendly dialogue with other Admins who use the same rooms as you.
* These rules are meant to help everyone more easily resolve disputes. In the event that these rules are hampering people from reaching a common-sense solution to a dispute, MyLeague.com reserves the right to override these rules in order to help resolve a situation more fairly for everyone.
